Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: This study investigates the relationship between Compassion Fatigue and Professional Quality of life among Healthcare Professionals, with a focus on the moderating role of Professional Resilience. Utilizing a correlational design, data from 315 participants, including 217 physical healthcare professionals and 98 mental healthcare professionals, were analyzed. The Compassion Fatigue Inventory (Charles & Figley, 1995), Professional Quality of Life Scale (ProQOL) (Stamm, 2005), and Work Resilience Scale (ReWoS-24) (Sweetman, 2022) were employed. Results indicate a significant positive correlation between Compassion Fatigue and Professional Quality of life. Regression analysis revealed that Compassion Fatigue significantly predicts professional quality of life. Independent sample t-tests showed significant differences in compassion fatigue, resilience, and professional quality of life between physical and mental health professionals. Moderation analysis confirmed that professional resilience significantly moderates the relationship. These findings underscore the importance of fostering resilience to enhance professional well-being and job satisfaction among healthcare providers.
