Obesity and food impulse control: A neuroscientific study on the regulation of neural circuits through advanced brain training and hormonal correlations
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Obesity is a major global public health problem, often associated with food impulsivity and dysfunction of the neuroendocrine system. The present study investigates the effectiveness of an integrated neuroscientific intervention – Neurofeedback Plus – in regulating brain activity in areas involved in behavioral control and reward evaluation (BA10, BA11, BA13, BA32, BA44-45, BA47) and in correlating these changes with essential hormonal biomarkers (cortisol, leptin, insulin). The design is a randomized, controlled, and double-blind, 12-week design with 100 adult participants with obesity. The intervention combines personalized neurofeedback, gamma photobiomodulation, non-invasive vagal stimulation, and heart-brain coherence techniques. The expected results are aimed at reducing food impulsivity, improving behavioral control and neuroendocrine balancing, helping to validate a modern, non-invasive and deeply personalized therapeutic strategy in the treatment of obesity and compulsive eating behaviors.
