Arteriovenous Fistula Secondary to Penetrating Neck Trauma from a Gunshot: Case Report with Endovascular Management at the General Hospital Of Sonora, Mexico

Year: 2025
Type: article
Study design: Case Report
Abstract: Arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs) represent abnormal communications between arteries and veins, and although traumatic AVFs are rare, their diagnosis requires high clinical suspicion. We present the case of a 31-year-old male with a delayed diagnosis of a carotid-jugular AVF after a gunshot wound to the neck, managed successfully with endovascular intervention. This report highlights the importance of timely imaging and vascular expertise in the treatment of complex neck trauma.
