Abstract: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a disease with hyperglycemia due to impaired insulin secretion or action. Uncontrolled DM can cause metabolic complications such as hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia. In the next stage, the damage causes complications which have an impact on the use of polypharmacy, namely the use of three or more drugs, which will cause potential drug interactions. The aim of this study was to determine the potential for oral antidiabetic drug interactions in type 2 DM patients at Hospital X. This study was a descriptive study with retrospective data collection. The total sample was 78 patients in the outpatient installation at Rumah X. This study used a random sampling technique. Data analysis uses univariate analysis and data is displayed in frequency and percentage form. The results showed that of 78 type 2 DM patients, 63 patients (81%) had the potential to experience drug interactions. Minor interactions occurred most frequently, namely 38 cases (51%), especially in the use of glimepiride and methylprednisolone, while moderate interactions were 37 cases (49%), especially in the use of metformin and amlodipine with comorbid hypertension. To prevent drug interactions, it is important to have communication to monitor drug side effects and evaluate drug use to ensure safe and effective treatment management.
