Abstract: There is a kind of multi-thematic thread connecting the exploration and establishment of planetary analogues in the Canary Islands, science fiction, STEAM education, and the figure of D. Santiago Ramón y Cajal, with the future of astrobiological research on Mars. In this article, in relation to our illustrious Nobel Prize and space, we address: a) his personal interest in the subject, both in the scientific and science fiction fields; b) his projection of Cajal into the cosmos, either as elements of his work or in his capacity as an illustrious and renowned figure; and c) the importance of Cajal’s research in the context of recent studies linking geological-mineralogical-astrobiological aspects with the brain and Mars.
