Amartya Sen’s Concept of Justice

Abstract: Justice is generally considered a concept of idealistic political philosophy. Humanity has always reflected upon the issues of justice and injustice. Justice is a virtue that fosters reciprocity among people, enabling them to develop appropriate behavior. Keeping in mind the issues within Rawlsian framework, Amartya Sen posed a simple question: what do we actually seek from the theory of justice? The theory of justice presented by Amartya Sen is very comprehensive. Instead of questioning the nature of perfect justice, he suggested focusing on reducing injustice to promote justice. He considered moving beyond the limited perspective of social contracts and found the comparative approach to be more effective. Every step toward resolving visible injustices is inspired by the enhancement of justice. However, even after reaching an agreement on eliminating injustice, it is difficult to say whether complete justice will prevail in society. Abstract in Hindi Language: न्याय को सामान्यतः आदर्शवादी राजनीतिक दर्शन की अवधारणा माना जाता है। मानव जाति ने हमेशा ही न्याय और अन्याय के विषय में चिंतन किया है। न्याय एक सद्गुण है जो लोगों में पारस्परिकता को बढ़ावा देता है जिससे उनमें समुचित व्यवहार विकसित हो सके। अमत्र्य सेन ने राॅल्सीय फ्रेम वर्क में समस्या को ध्यान में रखते हुए साधारण सा प्रश्न किया है कि हम न्याय सिद्धान्त से क्या चाहते हैं। अमत्र्य सेन द्वारा प्रस्तुत न्याय का सिद्धान्त बहुत व्यापक है। इन्होंने सम्पूर्ण न्याय की प्रकृति पर प्रश्न करने के बजाय अन्याय निवारण कर न्याय का सम्वर्धन पर विचार दिया है। इन्होंने सामाजिक समझौते के सीमित दृष्टिकोण से आगे निकलकर तुलनात्मक दृष्टिकोण को उपयोग ज्यादा प्रभावी माना है। दृश्य अन्याय के निराकरण का प्रत्येक कदम न्याय सम्वर्धन से प्रेरित होता है। अन्याय के निवारण पर सहमति हो जाने के बाद भी समाज में सम्पूर्ण न्याय होगा, यह कहना कठिन है। Keywords: सामाजिक समझौता, तुलनात्मक दृष्टिकोण, ज्ञानोदय, मानावधिकार उपागम।
