Year: 2025
Type: article
With the booming digital economy, e-commerce has become deeply integrated into public life and a pivotal pillar of the national economy. As the core driver of e-commerce market vitality, the level of consumer rights protection directly impacts the industry’s sustainable development. However, challenges such as virtual transaction features, information asymmetry, and ambiguous liability definitions for third-party platforms have rendered existing legal frameworks inadequate in addressing emerging consumer disputes. Persistent issues, including frequent infringements on consumers’ right to information and fair transactions, urgently demand systematic solutions. Resolving these challenges necessitates prioritizing legal improvements. On the one hand, accelerating the revision of relevant regulations to clarify third-party platforms’ liability boundaries in consumer disputes, standardize merchant obligations, and increase penalties for violations is critical. On the other hand, focusing on core consumer rights by refining information disclosure standards, strengthening oversight of standardized contracts, and establishing a multi-dimensional regulatory framework is essential. These measures will not only provide robust legal support for consumer rights protection but also foster a virtuous development cycle in the e-commerce market, achieving a win-win scenario for economic efficiency and social value.
