Abstract: This research paper introduces the Enhanced Solar Reflectance Index (SRI*), a novel assessment tool designed for a holistic evaluation of spectrally selective materials in real-world urban scenarios. The index builds upon the current understanding of the solar reflectance index (SRI), addressing its potentialities and limitations, while incorporating dynamic variations in its formulation. The proposed index aims to contribute to the assessment of materials crucial for mitigating urban overheating, which has direct implications on mortality rates and energy consumption.
