Characteristics of a Rotating Rivlin-Ericksen Fluid Model: Impact of Radiation Absorption, Hall and Ion Slip Currents on Magnetohydrodynamic Free Convective Flow over a Vertical Porous Plate
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The current study examines the characteristics of a rotating Rivlin-Ericksen fluid model influenced by radiation absorption, Hall and ion slip current on magnetohydrodynamic free convective flow over an impulsively started infinite vertical porous plate, considering the Dufour and chemical reaction effects. The Rivlin-Ericksen model provides a mathematical framework for describing non-Newtonian fluids, which exhibit complex behaviors such as shear-thinning, shear-thickening, viscoelasticity, and nonlinearity, deviating from the simple stress-strain relationship observed in Newtonian fluids. Analytical solutions to the governing partial differential equations are obtained, examining the axial and transverse velocity components, temperature, and concentration profiles across various physical parameters. Additionally, skin friction, Nusselt number, and Sherwood number are analyzed and presented in tabular form. The results demonstrate that increasing angular rotation, magnetic field strength, chemical reaction, and radiation parameters reduce both primary and secondary velocity components. Conversely, radiation absorption and heat source parameters have the opposite effect. The study also highlights significant variations in skin friction, Nusselt number and Sherwood number, influenced by factors such as Hall and ion slip currents, Schmidt number, Prandtl number, Dufour effect, and thermal radiation. The results offer practical insights for optimizing thermal and fluid control in aerospace, nuclear, and petroleum applications.
