Abstract: Introduction. Currently, the expansion in the number of industrial enterprises and, especially, transport in cities and human settlements in Russia causes pollution of the environment by harmful emissions. The ecosystem becomes unstable, its productivity and regenerative capability are reduced. The purpose of our research was the experimental study of a set of general physical parameters, hydro physical properties and regimes of sod-podzolic soil in forests with grass layer and fresh forest types in the unique ribbon forests of Altai. Methods. The granulometric composition, bulk density of the soil profile, the amount of humus and soil acidity are measured by the standard methods accepted in soil science. The relative humidity of the soil was determined by the thermostatic-gravimetric method, duplicating by the frequency response method. The temperature was measured by the DSI8D20 sensors, the calculated methods of S. Makarychev and A. Bolotov were also used. The sum of temperatures, holard (HMR) and productive moisture reserves (PMR) at the depth of 0–3 cm, 10, 20, 50 and 100 cm were calculated. The temperature gradients to find thermal conductivity and heat flows in the upper 20 cm layer of the soil were determined. Results. From the analysis of the granulometric composition follows that the main fraction of the physical elements of the soil refers to the sandy fraction, which exceeds 80% in both variants. The bulk densities of soil in the studied soil profile cuts differ very strongly. The amount of organic matter in the forest with grass layer in the upper 10 cm layer is lower and is equal 4.1%, while in the fresh pine forest 5.1%. The sod-podzolic soils' moistening in the upper 20 cm humus layer is lower in the forest with grass layer than in the fresh pine forest. During the seasonal observations (2023), the total sum of temperatures in the meter profile of the sod-podzolic soil was 680°С in both variants. The calculated heat flows spread through the humus layer in the underlying soil horizons in the fresh pine forest are higher than in the forest with grass layer. The results of the scientific research can be used in the development of forestry measures complex aimed at maintaining the stability of the forest ecosystem, its productivity and the regenerative capability.
