Abstract: This paper explores the poetic works of Lorand Gaspar written in or about Judea-Palestine, in order to show how his multidisciplinary and intertextual poetics relies on a tension between personal experience and commitment of the author’s ethos, and external sources allowing to frame a poetical and metaphysical discourse on one’s belonging to the natural world and human community. The first part of this paper shows how natural sciences are used to make of the Judean desert an image of the whole nature in its evolutionary processes, while the second shows how the poems use the author’s personal experience of war as well as textual sources to build a representation of human history and plead for the end of historical violence.
