Recent Advances of Sulfide Electrolytes in All-Solid-State Lithium Batteries

Year: 2025
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: Nowadays, the lithium-ion batteries are the most widely used batteries worldwide, but the problems of the liquid electrolytes, such as flammability, thermal runaway risk, and interfacial side reactions, need to be solved urgently. All-Solid-State Lithium Batteries (ASSLBs) are expected to be one of the core technologies of energy storage systems in the next generation for their high energy density, long cycle life and safety features. Solid-state sulfide electrolytes, with high ionic conductivity (10⁻³- 10⁻² S/cm) and good mechanical ductility, are regarded as one of the most promising materials for ASSLBs. This paper systematically reviewed the recent advances in sulfide electrolytes in ASSLBs, introduced the classification, synthesis methods and key performance (ionic conductivity, electrochemical stability, air stability) of sulfide electrolytes, analyzed the defects such as narrow electrochemical window, significant interfacial side reactions and poor air stability, as well as proposed modification strategies to address these problems. Finally, the challenges of improving stability, interface modification and engineering applications are discussed, and the prospects for future development are proposed..
