Clinical observations indicate that lipid metabolism disorders and vascular endothelial dysfunction are prevalent in individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and hypertension, which can further progress to atherosclerosis. Small and dense low-density lipoprotein (sdLDL-C) subtypes have important clinical value in predicting the progression of atherosclerosis and assessing the risk of cardiovascular events. Therefore, strengthening the monitoring of sdLDL-C levels in such patients will help to implement interventions earlier and achieve early prevention and treatment.
