Agroecological Assessment of the Stabilizing Effect of Compost on the Metabolism of Pseudomonas putida in Lead- and Zinc-Contaminated Sod-Podzolic Soil

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The article presents the results of an agroecological assessment of the stabilizing effect of compost on the metabolic activity of Pseudomonas putida in the arable horizon of anthropogenically degraded sod-podzolic soil contaminated with lead and zinc. The intensity of microbial respiration and the activity of protease and lipase enzymes of bacteria were analyzed under conditions where the arable horizon material contained lead and zinc acetates at levels of 0.1 MPC, 1 MPC, and 2 MPC. Against the background of high sensitivity of the protease, lipase, and respiratory activity of P. putida to increasing doses of lead and zinc, the stabilizing role of compost derived from quail manure was evident. Its application to soil contaminated with Pb and Zn contributed to a partial reduction of their inhibitory effect on the respiratory, protease, and lipase activity of Pseudomonas putida. Further research is needed to determine the minimum necessary and sufficient doses of compost application for the effective stabilization of the metabolic activity of Pseudomonas putida in the arable horizon contaminated with lead and zinc in sod-podzolic soils with varying degrees of anthropogenic degradation.
