Some Aspects of Advanced Drainage Methods: Improving Gas Flow and Reservoir Performance
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Enhancing gas flow and optimizing reservoir performance are key objectives in hydrocarbon recovery. Conventional gas extraction methods often struggle with challenges such as low permeability, pressure depletion, and water accumulation, which limit efficiency. To address these limitations, advanced drainage techniques—including horizontal drilling, underbalanced drilling, artificial lift systems, and enhanced dewatering methods—have been introduced. These innovative strategies help improve gas mobility, extend reservoir productivity, and minimize operational inefficiencies by reducing blockages and maintaining stable pressure. Additionally, real-time monitoring and reservoir simulation technologies enhance decision-making and production optimization. These approaches have been particularly valuable in unconventional and tight gas formations, where conventional methods often fall short. Economic and environmental factors are also driving the shift toward more cost-effective and sustainable drainage solutions. This study examines various advanced drainage techniques, their applications, and their impact on reservoir performance. The findings underscore the significance of continued technological advancements in ensuring long-term, efficient gas production.
