Descriptor: Contactless Fingerprint Image Streams and Heart Rate (CFISHR)
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The article presents a novel dataset of continuous, high-quality, and contactless fingerprint image streams of the right thumb finger captured from 46 participants, along with synchronized heart rate measurements. The presented dataset was captured with the help of an off-the-shelf monochrome blue-light fingerprint scanner of 500 pixels per inch (ppi) with 14 frames per second (fps), accompanied by a commercially available smartwatch for measuring heart rates. The participants recorded one minute of right thumb fingerprint video, which produced over 38 000 grayscale images to extract photoplethysmographic signals from the fingerprint stream. The multimodal dataset serves as an advancement for biometric research, enabling progress in dynamic fingerprint recognition, liveness detection, and physiological signal analysis. In addition, we provide open-source MATLAB scripts for noise reduction, fingertip cropping, and heart rate computation from the image stream to ensure its usability and reproducibility. The dataset is publicly available through IEEE Dataport for academic research under a signed End User License Agreement (EULA).IEEE SOCIETY/COUNCILIEEE Biometrics CouncilDATA TYPE/LOCATIONImages; Potsdam, NY, USADATA DOI/PID10.21227/5gn0-a402
