Holistic Approach to Adult Education: Personal Development and Social Impact in the Programmes of the ''Nahla'' Education and Research Centre

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Adult education plays a crucial role in preparing individuals to tackle the challenges of modern society. This paper explores specific programmes offered by the Nahla Education and Research Centre (Nahla ERC) that focus on personal growth and development, and active citizenship. These areas were selected due to the high demand for such programmes, the broad target audience, and the opportunity to assess the postive impacts on families, communities, and society as whole through evaluations and feedback. The paper utilises both qualitative and quantitative data to gain insight into how these programmes affect participants' employability, eneterpreneurship, self-confidence, and civic engagement. The findings show that women who participate in these programmes experience a sense of accomplishment, boost their self-esteem, and become more involved in community activities. There is a focus on the ripple effect of education: women who acquire knowledge often share it, creating a cycle of empowerment within their communities. The Nahla ERC model illustrates how adult education can serve as a catalyst for social change, beyond personal growth. This paper demonstrates how Nahla ERC's educational preogrammes exemplify a holistic approach to lifelong learning, with clear benefits at personal, social, and economic levels. In underscores the importance of incorporating personal development preogrammes into adult education offerings and their essential role in fostering sustainable community development.
