Abstract: Comparison of polishing systems for the color stability of CAD-CAM hybrid blocksPurpose. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of different polishing systems on the color stability of CAD-CAM restorative materials after immersion in red wine.Materials and methods.Four types of materials were used: a resin composite (Filtek Z350 XT), two hybrid blocks (Lava Ultimate, Cerasmart 270), and a ceramic block (IPS e.max CAD).Lava Ultimate and Cerasmart 270 were each divided into two subgroups according to polishing systems: resin polishing and ceramic polishing.A total of six experimental groups were prepared and immersed in red wine for 21 days.Color measurements were taken at baseline and on Days 7, 14, and 21 using a spectrophotometer, and color changes (ΔE) were calculated.Data were analyzed using one-way and two-way ANOVA with Tukey's post hoc test (α = .05).Results.IPS showed the lowest ΔE values at all time points, indicating the highest color stability. The FT group showed the highest ΔE values, while LU and CER exhibited intermediate color stability. In the LU groups, the ceramic polishing system resulted in significantly lower ΔE values than the resin polishing system at Days 14 and 21 (P < .01).No significant difference between polishing systems was observed in the CER groups (P > .05).Two-way ANOVA confirmed that material type significantly influenced ΔE values at all time points (P < .01),and that the effect of polishing system became significant over time.A significant interaction between material and polishing method was found only at Day 7 (P = .006).Conclusion.Based on the findings of this study, it is possible to conclude that both the material type and the polishing system affect the color stability of CAD-CAM restorative materials.Even among hybrid CAD-CAM blocks, the effectiveness of polishing systems may vary depending on filler size and microstructural characteristics. Therefore, careful selection of polishing protocols is recommended to improve long-term esthetic outcomes.(
