Type: conference-paper
Abstract: Based on the panel data of 31 provinces in China from 2011 to 2020, this paper employs themediation effect model and the spatial Durbin model to conduct an in - depth analysis of the mechanism and spatial spillover effects of digital economy on tourism consumption from three aspects: direct impact, indirect impact, and spatial spillover effect. The results show that the digital economy can not only directly promote tourism consumption but also further drive the growth of tourism consumption through indirect ways such as enriching the diversity of tourism products, increasing residents' income, and promoting the integration of the tourism market. In addition, the digital economy has a positive spatial spillover effect on tourism consumption, which can drive the development of tourism consumption in provinces with similar economic levels. The extended analysis indicates that the role of digital economy in promoting tourism consumption is enhanced with the improvement of economic development level, and it is more significant in the central and western regions, showing a pro - poor characteristic. This paper provides a reference for promoting tourism consumption by relying on the digital economy.
