Abstract: With the advent of the digital economy era, the construction of smart cities has become an important means to promote the sustainable development of cities. Focusing on the development needs of smart cities in the context of the digital economy, this paper analyzes the application of artificial intelligence algorithms in the optimization strategies of smart cities. By systematically summarizing artificial intelligence algorithms, it elaborates on their key roles in the construction of smart cities. Through introducing various algorithm optimization techniques and actually analyzing their specific applications in functional areas of smart cities such as traffic management, public security, and environmental protection, it reveals effective ways for algorithm optimization to expand the service capabilities of smart cities. This not only helps deepen the understanding of the integration of smart cities and artificial intelligence but also provides a scientific basis for urban managers to make intelligent decisions under the conditions of the digital economy.
