Abstract: Museums are in a pedagogical revolution. Once sterile, educationally useless artifact repositories, museums are now exciting, interdisciplinary learning spaces that extend engagement from one-way to participatory dialog between the public and the museum. A significant part of this shift has evolved because of the use of drama as a method and medium. Museums are employing drama pedagogies to transcend and redefine disciplinary boundaries, thereby expanding the disciplines and fostering alternative forms of embodied, contributory, and inclusive learning. This chapter discusses the various ways in which drama has enabled the museum to become an educational, interdisciplinary space, drawing on theories of drama and museum education, as well as examples from the literature and the author’s practice, to inform effective drama use in museum settings. The author also introduced her “Three-Steps Drama” methods in museum education for interdisciplinary learning, which confirms museums as the “Third Space” for educational engagement.
