Longitudinal Analysis of Persistent Immune Dysfunction as a Predictor of Outcomes in Liver Transplant Recipients

Year: 2025
Type: article
Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: Purpose: Cirrhosis-associated immune dysfunction (CAID) is common among liver transplant (LT) candidates. Severity of CAID can be measured by Liver Immune Frailty Index (LIFI), a pre-LT biomarker panel stratifying by risk of 1-year post-LT mortality (LIFI-low=1.9%, LIFI-high=63.6%). We suspect post-LT immune recovery is protracted in LIFI-high, contributing to higher mortality/morbidity post-LT. Here, we use LIFI to assess persistence of immune dysfunction within 1-year post-LT, correlated clinically.
