Abstract: Purpose: Transplant program offered organ acceptance rates are publicly reported and monitored by the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network. While much research has sought to optimize center-level decision-making on organ acceptance, candidate-level reasons for decline are not well defined. Our study aimed to quantify offered organs deemed acceptable to transplant physicians but ultimately declined for candidate-related reasons to inform process improvement initiatives.
