Sequential Ultrasound and Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasound Imaging in the First Two Human Kidney Xenotransplant Recipients
Year: 2025
Type: article
Study design: Case Report
Abstract: Purpose: Kidney xenotransplantation has recently transitioned from preclinical research to early human studies in two patients. Ultrasound plays a key role in non-invasive allograft monitoring, yet no published data exist on its use in kidney xenotransplantation. Additionally, porcine kidney graft size stability in human recipients is not characterized. This study presents the first sequential ultrasound evaluation of gene-edited porcine kidney xenografts in two human recipients.
