Development of a Novel Mouse Model of Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis Recurrence Post-Kidney Transplantation Mediated by Anti-Nephrin Antibodies

Type: article
Abstract: Purpose: Posttransplant recurrence of primary focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (pFSGS) is a major challenge in kidney transplantation, frequently leading to allograft failure. Autoantibodies against nephrin, a key podocyte protein, have been implicated in disease recurrence, yet their precise pathogenic role remains unclear. Current models fail to replicate the full disease spectrum. To address this gap, we developed a novel, mechanistically driven mouse model to study the impact of anti-nephrin autoantibodies on recurrent FSGS (rFSGS) pathogenesis post-transplant.
