Abstract: Purpose: Evidence from randomised human and experimental trials indicate that the results of heart transplantation improve with the use of perfusion of donor hearts. In these studies, we evaluated the efficacy of a novel mechanical perfusion device in preserving porcine hearts using HOPE for six hours ex vivo.
