Efficacy and Safety of Sodium Glucose Cotransporter 2 Inhibitor and Glucagon-Like Peptide 1 Agonist in Kidney Transplant Recipients: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Purpose: Kidney transplant recipients (KTRs) experience high rates of cardiovascular disease, renal dysfunction, and diabetes, which negatively affect their long-term outcomes. Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) and glucagon-like peptide 1 agonists (GLP1-RA) have shown strong cardiovascular and renal benefits in non-KTRs. However, due to exclusion from large randomized controlled trials, evidence on their efficacy and safety in KTRs remains limited and largely based on small observational studies.
