Proteomic Analysis of Perfusate from Normothermic Machine Perfusion of Human Livers Suggests Markers Associated with Organ Recovery
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Purpose: Normothermic machine perfusion (NMP) offers advantages over static cold storage (SCS), including reduction of hyperfibrinolysis and inflammation, and repletion of glycogen and ATP levels, particularly in steatotic or donation-after-circulatory-death livers. We hypothesized that the perfusate collected during NMP of human livers allows for capturing molecular markers indicative of regeneration of hepatocytes and cholangiocytes during organ recovery.
