Characterizing the Relationship Between T Cell of Operational Tolerance (TOT) Cells and Regulatory T Cells (Tregs) in Pediatric Solid Organ Transplantation
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Purpose: Achieving allograft health while minimizing chronic immunosuppression remains a challenge in pediatric solid organ transplantation. Regulatory T cells (Tregs) are key mediators of immune tolerance in organ transplantation. A subpopulation of CD4 T cells (CD45RA-, CD25+, CD5+, CD38-), termed T Cell of Operational Tolerance (TOT) cells, has been significantly associated with stable graft function in both pediatric kidney transplant recipients and operational tolerant pediatric liver transplant recipients.
