Abstract: Furcation involvement is a critical concern in periodontics, affecting the prognosis and treatment of multirooted teeth. Accurate diagnosis is essential, as improper assessment can lead to misclassification and ineffective treatment. This review discusses the challenges of probing furcations, the impact of furcation involvement on tooth survival, and various treatment strategies, including non-surgical therapy, regenerative approaches, and adjunctive therapies. Additionally, different furcation classification systems are outlined to aid clinicians in selecting appropriate interventions. Advanced diagnostic tools such as computed tomography enhance the precision of furcation assessment, ensuring better clinical outcomes.
