Abstract: Background: Asthma is a chronic respiratory disease that can cause sleep disturbances due to shortness of breath, coughing, and wheezing, especially at night. Sleeping position affects lung function and patient comfort. The Semi-Fowler position is believed to increase lung ventilation and reduce sleep disturbances. Objective: To determine the effect of the Semi-Fowler sleeping position on sleep quality in asthma patients in the treatment room. Method: This study used a quantitative design with a pre-experimental approach using a pretest-posttest design without a control group. The sample consisted of 30 asthma patients treated in the treatment room of RSUD X who were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The intervention was carried out by providing the Semi-Fowler position for 3 consecutive nights. Measurement of sleep quality using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire. Results: The results of the analysis using the Wilcoxon test showed a significant difference between sleep quality values before and after the intervention (p = 0.001), which indicated an increase in sleep quality after the Semi-Fowler position intervention. Conclusion: Providing the Semi-Fowler sleeping position can consistently improve the sleep quality of asthma patients. This position is recommended as part of non-pharmacological nursing interventions in the treatment room.
