Abstract: A field experiment entitled “Evaluation of post-emergence application of quizalofop-p-tefuryl (4.41 % EC) on groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.)” was conducted during Kharif 2012 at ARS, Chintamani. The experiment consisted of 12 treatments laid out in RCBD with three replications. The results revealed that pre-emergence application of pendimethalin @ 1.0 kg a.i. ha-1 followed by post emergence application of quizalofop-p-tefuryl (4.41% EC) @ 1000 ml ha-1 at 15 DAS recorded better results of lowest total weed population at 30, 60, 90, 120 DAS (2.68, 3.53, 3.93 3.58 number per m2), lowest Total dry weight of weeds at 30, 60, 90 at harvest (1.92, 3.31,3.80, 3.74 g m2) and lowest weed control efficiency at 30, 60, 90 at harvest (67.32, 64.61, 64.33, 62.71 %). Several studies have revealed that better weed control by using herbicides like Alachlor @ 1.0 kg a.i. ha-1, Metalachlor @ 1.0 kg a.i. ha-1, and Pendimethalin @ 1.0 kg a.i. ha-1 as pre-emergence within three days after sowing, for relative broad spectrum of weed control. This study envisages the suitability of new early post-emergence herbicides viz., Quizalofop-p-tefuryl (4.41 % EC), alone or pre- emergence herbicides followed by post-emergence herbicides viz., Quizalofop-p- tefuryl (4.41 % EC) for their efficacy in the management of weeds in kharif groundnut.
