Impact of Absolute Lymphocyte Count-Guided Surveillance on Early Detection of Cytomegalovirus After Prophylaxis in High-Risk Kidney Transplant Recipients
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Purpose: CMV infection after prophylaxis remains a major cause of morbidity in high-risk (D+/R-) kidney transplant recipients. Low absolute lymphocyte counts have been associated with increased risks of CMV infection. We evaluated whether a surveillance protocol based on absolute lymphocyte count (ALC) could enable earlier detection and improve clinical outcomes at 1-year post-transplant.
