Against the backdrop of global trade digitalization and China’s “dual circulation” development strategy, cross-border e-commerce has become a key driver of high-quality foreign trade. Based on core journal articles from CNKI and Scopus between 2020 and 2025, this study applies CiteSpace to conduct a visualized bibliometric analysis, exploring trends in publication volume, author and institutional collaboration networks, keyword co-occurrence, clustering, burst detection, and temporal evolution. The findings reveal that the research on cross-border e-commerce in China has undergone three main stages: adjustment, stable growth, and recent decline. Current research hotspots focus on “digital trade,” “digital economy,” “SMEs,” and “overseas warehouses,” indicating a multidimensional expansion toward digitalization, global deployment, and policy support. However, the collaboration networks among authors and institutions remain loosely connected, and knowledge dissemination efficiency needs improvement. This study concludes by proposing suggestions for promoting collaborative innovation, exploring interdisciplinary topics, and refining research paradigms to support both academic advancement and practical development in cross-border e-commerce.
