Abstract: Here, we report the synthesis and study of three Ir( iii ) complexes, which are derivatives of fac -Ir(ppy) 3 (Hppy – 2-phenylpyridine) in which the interplay between MLCT/LLCT and intraligand CT excited states is explored.
