Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is currently used in various fields of medicine. The interest in the application of PRP in dermatology has increased in recent years. PRP is used in tissue regeneration, wound healing, scar revision, skin rejuvenation, and alopecia. PRP is a biological product, part of the plasma fraction of autologous blood, which has a platelet concentration above baseline. The therapy originated in transfusion medicine, where it was administered as a platelet concentrate in the treatment of thrombocytopenia. PRP is more than 70 years old and has a growing number of medical applications. PRP is a particularly promising method in esthetic dermatology and conditions of the hair and scalp.
