Abstract: This is an expository paper describing a few selected topics of Sergei Grudsky’s research during the last ten years devoted to the asymptotic behavior of the eigenvalues of truncated Toeplitz matrices as their dimension goes to infinity. I focus the attention on some instructive and crucial pieces of our joint work that are communicable without embarking on the heavy technicalities that are inherent in this topic.
