Abstract: This study aims to examine the functions of directive speech acts in the film Agak Laen by Muhadkly Acho through a pragmatic approach. This is a qualitative descriptive study. The subject of the research is the characters' dialogues in the film, while the object is the types and functions of directive speech acts. Data were collected through documentation and transcription of dialogues containing directive speech acts. The data were analyzed using contextual and interpretive analysis based on pragmatic theory. The results indicate that various forms of directive speech acts—such as commanding, requesting, suggesting, and prohibiting—are employed by characters in diverse social contexts. The study concludes that directive speech acts in the film serve not only as communication tools but also reflect social relations and character traits. The findings have implications for language learning and pragmatic studies, particularly in understanding language use in real-life contexts
