The role of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in pediatric dentistry: applications, benefits and future perspectives

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is an autologous regenerative treatment gaining increasing attention in pediatric dentistry due to its ability to accelerate healing, reduce inflammation and promote tissue regeneration. This article reviews the potential clinical applications of PRP in pediatric dental procedures, including post-surgical healing, management of dental trauma and bone regeneration. Additionally, the article explores the use of PRP in the management of craniofacial clefts, specifically cleft lip and palate. Despite the promising outcomes, further research is needed to standardize protocols and validate PRP’s efficacy in pediatric populations.
