Upadacitinib Monotherapy for Treatment of Pyoderma Gangrenosum
Year: 2025
Type: article
Study design: Case Report
Abstract: Pyoderma gangrenosum (PG) is a rare, neutrophilic dermatosis that results in progressive, painful ulcers most commonly affecting the lower extremities. Although immunosuppressants are frequently used for therapy, there is no standard treatment approach, and recurrences are common. The pathogenesis of PG is believed to involve dysregulation of the Janus kinase (JAK)/signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT) pathway, supporting the potential use of JAK/STAT inhibitors as a treatment option. This case series describes the successful use of upadacitinib, a selective JAK inhibitor, in the management of PG.
