(P Objective: To evaluate the longitudinal strain of right ventricle in patients with obstructive sleep apnea by two-dimensional speckle tracking imaging (2D-STI). Materials and Methods: A total of 62 patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and 30 healthy volunteers were enrolled as control group. According to apnea-hypopnea index (AHI), OSA group was divided into mild (5 ≤ AHI 0.6). The whole longitudinal strain of the right ventricle (RVGLS) and the longitudinal strain of the free wall of the right ventricle (RVFWLS) were measured by 2D-STI, and the internal carotid artery RI was measured by color Doppler. The relationship between OSA and right ventricular longitudinal strain was analyzed using Pearson correlation analysis. Results: The levels of RVGLS and RVFWLS decreased with the increase of OSA severity, and there was a statistical difference compared with control group (P < 0.01). AHI was negatively correlated with TAPSE, S’, RVGLS and RVFWLS (P < 0.01), and AHI was more strongly correlated with RVGLS and RVFWLS. Conclusion: 2D-STI may be used for early evaluation of right ventricular longitudinal strain in OSA patients.
