Abstract: The dehydration of 4-CF3-thiochroman-4-ols under the action of phosphorus pentoxide on silica gel afforded previously unknown 4-CF3-2H-thiochromenes, which appeared to be convenient precursors for 4-CF3-thiocoumarins.
