“The Implementation Plan for Major Projects to Revitalize Traditional Chinese Medicine Development” issued by the Chinese government in 2023 aligns closely with the strategic positioning of Deyang City’s “14th Five-Year Plan”, presenting new opportunities for the integration of martial arts and medicine (hereafter referred to as “Wuyi Integration”). Based on Porter’s Diamond Model Theory, this study employs literature analysis, in-depth interviews, and field investigations to examine the current status and potential of six core elements of Wuyi Integration in Deyang City. The findings reveal that while Deyang possesses a solid resource foundation and strong market demand, deficiencies remain in both hardware and software resources for Wuyi Integration services. Additionally, institutional barriers—such as fragmented industry management and obstacles in medical insurance reimbursement—as well as market failures, including information asymmetry and a lack of compensation for positive externalities, hinder progress. To address these challenges, this study proposes innovative solutions such as a three-stage integration model and designs pathways for development, including strengthening production factors, optimizing demand-side structures, fostering industrial clustering, overcoming institutional barriers, and resolving market inefficiencies. This research not only provides theoretical guidance and practical solutions for Wuyi Integration in Deyang but also offers valuable insights for the integrated development of traditional medicine and sports industries in other regions.
