Type: article
“The Color Purple” is the masterpiece of renowned African American female author Alice Walker. Ecofeminism focuses on the close connection between women and nature, arguing that man’s control over nature and male’s oppression and confinement of women share the same roots, both stemming from patriarchy and anthropocentrism. This paper aims to explore Alice Walker’s profound ecological concern and female consciousness by analyzing and interpreting the various connections between women and nature in the novel, as well as the process of oppression, resistance and reconciliation of the two.
