Semanticisation of Phonetic Terms in the Works of the Half of the Twentieth Century
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The article provides a comprehensive overview of the evolution of phonetic terminology for vowels and consonants. It offers an in-depth examination of the typology of variant terms, delving into the nuances of their semantic interpretation. Research has demonstrated that a salient characteristic of the genesis of fundamental pho-netic terms is the active development of linguistic nominations associated with the patriotism of Ukrainian linguists. In their quest to formulate novel terms and employ pre-existing ones, these scholars sought to convey the concepts defined by their native language with optimal precision, while eschewing the rejection of international terms.
