Abstract: The paper presents an overview of the investigations on the electrochemically activated water solutions. The description concerns the changes in water composition and structure leading toabnormal properties of the obtained highly alkaline and acidic fractions and their influence on vitalprocesses in living mater. The destructive action of the anolyte on different bacteria and viruses hasbeen reported. Another important problem refers to the beneficial influence of catholyte on vital processes in plants and animals. Positive effect on plants growth and production has been reported by scientists from different countries. Some unpublished results are involved. Disputable problems that require further elucidation are outlined.
