Printed and Electronic Newspaper Publications: State, Achievements and Omissions of the Journalistic Profile of Activity

Abstract: The aim of the article is to reveal advantages of printed newspaper publications over electronic ones, as well as to outline ways of improving the preparation of electronic newspapers according to the journalistic profile of activity. Research methods. To achieve the set goal, the following methods are applied: analysis, synthesis, analogy, comparison, description, structural-functional method and generalisation. Scientific novelty. For the first time, the advantages of printed newspaper publications over electronic ones are grounded. The latter prevail in the media space and are significantly inferior to printed ones in terms of objectivity, timeliness, reliability of information presentation. They and influence the formation of proper vital processes of a human and society in total. An algorithm for improving electronic newspaper publications in accordance with the profile of journalistic activity, professionalism and skills is offered. Main conclusions. Printed newspaper periodicals have been and still remain one of the most important form of publications in the mass media system. They have always contained up-to-date information about vital processes taking place in society, in the country as a whole or in a certain region. Each reader could find information of his own interest based on the subject matter and preferences. The development of innovative technologies has virtually pushed printed newspapers out of the sphere of providing the population with news products and forced them to switch to electronic publications using the global Internet. Simultaneously with electronic newspapers, other popular ones, so-called media platforms, blogging channels, etc., have begun to appear. Some of them do not quite meet the requirements of the journalistic profile of activity. Calling themselves journalists, the owners and contributors of these electronic publications have practically discredited this profession and master skills of specialists in this field. Offered in this article algorithm for counteracting anti-social phenomena, spread by electronic newspaper publications, will allow to provide users with objective, timely and reliable information.
