Features of the use of liquefied petroleum gases

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The composition of liquefied petroleum gases mainly includes propane and butane. The possible transition from a gaseous state to a liquid state is determined by multiple factors. The main ones are pressure, temperature, and gas composition. There are different requirements for liquefied petroleum gas depending on the climatic factors of the region. In the temperature range of –35...45 °C, liquefied propane can be used to supply consumers. Under conditions of natural evaporation at temperatures below 0 °C, it is not possible to use liquefied butane. The heat of combustion of butane is higher than the heat of combustion of propane, therefore, at positive temperatures, its use has large coverage. Liquefied petroleum gases are used in regions located at a considerable distance from the main gas pipelines. Liquefied petroleum gases are used to supply fuel to areas with low population density. In addition, there are problems related to the lack of gas during the hours of the highest fuel consumption. For these purposes, methods have been developed for mixing liquefied gas vapors with air. The process of preparing the gas-air mixture provides a value of the heat of combustion equal to the heat of combustion of natural gas. It is planned to lay main gas pipelines for some cities in the future. However, currently, gas mixing plants are used to provide fuel generation with characteristics close to natural gas. Liquefied petroleum gas plants can be located inside the building. At the same time, the required performance of the cylinder plants is ensured. Also it is necessary to ensure safety requirements. When installing cylinders from the outside, productivity decreases, but better safety conditions are ensured.
