On the Problem of Nationally Oriented Education of Foreign Students of Russian Universities

Abstract: The article is devoted to the problem of teaching foreign citizens in Russian universities. The purpose of the study is to identify and substantiate an effective approach to teaching foreign students in Russian universities in Russian. Nationally oriented training is proposed as such an approach. The article highlights the main provisions of a nationally oriented approach to teaching foreign students, and systematizes information about nationally determined features of students’ educational and cognitive activities that complicate their learning process in the Russian academic environment. The problems of academic adaptation of foreign students are touched upon, the peculiarities of national characters and mentalities are considered. The results of the study of educational systems of different countries and the peculiarities of educational activity of foreign students are presented. As a conclusion from the conducted research, practical guidelines are given to teachers teaching foreign students in non-linguistic disciplines to create a comfortable learning environment in the classroom and optimize the learning process for foreign students.
