Green Certifications to Achieve Climate Targets

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Achieving net-zero targets by 2050 necessitates transparency in supply chains, making green certification a vital tool for assessing environmental performance. Yet existing green certification schemes exhibit inconsistencies in emission limits and fail to align with environmental carrying capacities. This study reviews various certifications and presents a dynamic framework for quantifying emissions within green certifications. Our proposed methodology integrates a comprehensive cradle-to-grave life cycle assessment with dynamic adjustments based on evolving data and scenarios. This approach enhances transparency and accuracy in emissions accounting, equipping organisations with a robust and adaptable tool to meet net-zero targets and improve environmental performance evaluation across supply chains.
